Fun Things to Do on Your Virtual Date
To keep your date interested in spending time with you in endless chats, you need to be interesting. I’ve seen so many creative ways that couples are “meeting” on a date, while staying safe in their separate homes.
Here are a few ideas that are simple to schedule, and will guarantee an enjoyable date night.
Grab Your Passport.
For a story in the Chicago Tribune, I was asked to provide quarantine date ideas, with one of my favorites being a trip around the world.
Traveling around the world without a passport shows that you’re creative, and allows you to create fun memories together, while fantasizing about a trip that you might get to go on, someday. If you and your date both love museum hopping, there are over 2500 complete with virtual tours. Plus, it’s fun to take turns in selecting what city or Continent you’d like to visit together.
Time Out has a great list of museums to virtually visit, from the Guggenheim in New York, to the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
Stream Shows Together, While Alone
It’s no secret that “Netflix and Chill” has been renamed “Netflix and Quarantine.”
If you’re interested in binge watching shows together/apart, try adding the Netflix Party Chrome extension to your browser, so you can watch a movie, or binge-watch a series together in real time. This extension allows you to comment, and even push a button to pause the program in case you want to take a break for a formal virtual dinner date.
You’ll get bonus points if you send a food delivery to your date, so you can dine from the same menu.
Schedule a Virtual Happy Hour Date
Sometimes keeping it simple is best. Going on a “Happy Hour” date is the easiest way to break the ice, or break open a bottle of bubbly. These days, the “Quarantini” is the drink of choice, and whether it’s a mocktail, or something a little stronger, make sure you fill up a glass, and ramp up your flirting skills.
The goal of a happy hour date is to keep the conversation light and fun. Try to bring out your inner child and talk about the things you did over the summer, reminisce about your first cross-country trip or flight, and leave the drama behind of what you did all day long. Make a pact with your date that you won’t talk about the news or the coronavirus, and at the end of your virtual drink date, take the lead and suggest another date to keep the momentum going if you click.
Play Games
Try to stay playful, even if you’re not feeling your best. You don’t need to be a serious gamer to have some fun.
You can get competitive filling in the blanks in the same an online crossword puzzle, to see who finishes first, or lighten it up by playing Bingo online. Arkadium has eight different free versions of popular crossword puzzles, and you can play “Name that Tune,” while listening to our Quarantine Playlist on Spotify.
Whatever you decide to do for your quarantine date, know that you’re not alone. If you don’t click with your date, there millions of other crushes waiting to happen.
