Hillary was swiping left and right on Bumble and connected with Jon, who lived nearby.
During an in-app chat, Jon asked Hillary what her deepest hopes and dreams were. They quickly realized they had similar interests in common, including hiking and cooking.
Before they met, the two spoke to each other on the phone for several hours over a few days.
Hillary sent a text to Jon saying she loved chocolate made a great chocolate mousse from scratch.
Jon was so intrigued that he asked Hillary what the mousse was wearing. He then asked what the mousse liked to do outside of the hard work of dessert engineering. He was flirting big time and asked her to describe the mousse’s deep desires.
Hillary got the cue and played the flirting game.
Then Jon disappeared for a week, and Hillary assumed he had ghosted her.
Jon did resurface a week later, and because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two met during social distancing where they decided to take his dog for a walk.
Since Hillary and Jon had self-isolated for two weeks, they felt safe meeting in public.
Jon realized the moment Hillary got out of her car to meet him, that he wanted to be with her. Their first date lasted two hours at a Farmer’s market.
At the end of their first date, Jon asked Hillary out for the next day.
The following night, they went on their second date, where he ordered dinner and brought her favorite wine.
Hillary tells me that she felt so at ease with Jon, that they decided to spend the weekend together, and they’ve been quarantining together ever since.
“We feel as though we have known each other for months,” not days, she tells me. “We realize that it was risky to meet under the circumstances, but when you find something so special, you take the risk.”
According to Hilary, “Love found its way through a pandemic. Jon makes me feel safe and comfortable.”
