Dating During Quarantine – Blake’s Quest to Find Love

Dating in the age of covid 19 - Blake

Who says all the great guys are taken, and that men don’t want to commit? If you think that way, you haven’t met Blake Premer.

Committed to finding the one, Blake has been actively searching for love using dating apps.

“All of my dates are virtual,” says Blake, who is using Bumble, Hinge, and The League, while dating during quarantine.

The 34-year old digital advertising account manager finds serial dating using video less exhausting than scheduling an in-person date, which is on hold for now. From planning a date, to going to a bar and ordering a drink, the process takes the entire night, compared to a 15-minute video date.

Determined to find a meaningful relationship that will lead to marriage, Blake expanded his search by creating a Facebook Live show, The Live Dating Show, where single women get to snag a video date with Blake.

Blake arrives prepared for each video date, as if he were meeting someone IRL, wearing a button-down shirt.

“It’s a good sign when the 15 minutes goes by quickly,” says Blake.

When his Bumble date with Genevieve quickly went into the friend zone, Genevieve suggested Blake meet a friend of hers, Abbey. The three of them ended up on a group date on Instagram Live, and Blake and Abbey hit it off. Blake could tell Abbey wasn’t feeling well, but she seemed fun and had a “cool” dog.

What Blake didn’t realize, is on their first date, Abbey was feeling sick.

It turned out, and she had the coronavirus.

For a few weeks, Blake kept in touch with Abbey to see how she was feeling, and finally, the two went on their second date when she recovered, this time on the second episode of The Live Dating Show on Facebook.

Since Abbey expressed that loves adventure, Blake created a virtual shark dive adventure.

His goal is to find someone for marriage and to have a family with but told me he was concerned about putting too much pressure on himself by saying he wants to find a wife. I assured him, that a lot of women would find that refreshing, and wouldn’t be running for the hills.

Blake’s still searching for love, and looks forward to having picnics over going to bars, and will continue to chronicle his dates on Facebook Live.
