#DatingDuringQuarantine – Cheryl and Brian
Brian was new to dating after his 18-year marriage ended last year. He hadn’t met anyone who he felt great chemistry with, but was ready to start dating again. When the novel coronavirus hit, he decided to put dating on hold.
Back in January, pre-corona, a friend of Brian’s gave him the phone number for Cheryl, thinking they’d be a good match. Brian felt he wasn’t ready to date yet, so he didn’t call.
Two months later, Brian reached out to Cheryl to set up a coffee date, and they met the following day. He said if he waited another week, he probably wouldn’t have started dating.
During their first date, they found out that restaurants in their state would stop serving sit-down meals later the same night. Although they stayed six feet apart from each other to maintain social distancing, they knew the chemistry was unmistakable.
On their first date, Cheryl realized that Brian was a great catch, so she made sure to let him know that she wanted to see him again. She suggested going on a picnic at a campground and building a bonfire for their second date. They picked up food from a Mediterranean restaurant and dined by the campfire.
Their second date went so well that they went back to the campground for their third date.
After a few dates, the two decided to become exclusive. Not only did they become an official couple, but they started spending every day and night together. Both had already quarantined, and since Cheryl’s a nurse, Brian felt that he was in good hands.
Since then, Cheryl and Brian have gone on regular hikes at nearby parks during the daytime and cooked dinner for each other most nights.
At one point, Brian says they saw each other ten days in a row.
Brian believes their relationship has progressed faster with the current circumstances where meetings and social events were off-calendar. He had anticipated a lot of dating as a newly single man but found his match with Cheryl in the time of COVID-19.
